The Troupe was born from a sense of vertigo: that of a body that cannot sit still and will not fit into a box. A body that improvises its path through an imaginary geometry, without borders.

Here, the stage is an agora under construction, a wall to be crossed, a ramp raised towards the sky. Skate, parkour and dance are our pretexts for turning raw energy and ritual act into artistic gesture.

We do not seek perfection, but action. For our only rule is to dare. To dare freedom, vulnerability, indiscipline. And to make of this, together, an attempt to answer the one question that matters to us: What can a body do, here and now?

Conceived as a space of circulation between disciplines, the Troupe UMA highlights a diversity of voices and visions, and opens to young artists a rare ground for growth. Through collective gestures, individual expressions and a choreographic writing that creates the illusion of total and instantaneous freedom, it explores the relationship between the theatrical space and the public space, making movement an immediate response to the world around us. The Troupe UMA takes shape notably through the show Ollie, a work created at the Théâtre Am Stram Gram in 2022 and revived at the Théâtre du Châtelet in 2025.

The group brings together thirteen versatile artists, urban and contemporary dancers, free runners and skaters, under the direction of the Belgian choreographer and visual artist Nicolas Musin, founder of Urban Move Academy and of the Troupe UMA. The company is based in Vernier, Geneva, Switzerland.

The Troupe UMA is also committed to transmission and arts education, in neighbourhoods, community centres, schools, prisons and hospitals. Through hands-on workshops and small travelling forms that can be staged anywhere, it brings poetry and imagination to the heart of cities, as close as possible to the people who live there.
